BIO
Devin Sherman is a songwriter and musician based in central Pennsylvania. After a decade of studying and performing classical guitar, Devin turned back to his musical roots - early blues, folk, and Americana music. In a simple style with just his guitar and voice, his debut album "Devin Sherman Does a Demo" features eight original songs which capture personal reflections on life. Tunes from the album have been featured on WPSU's Local Groove, Q94's Homegrown Rocker (Altoona, PA), and WRGG (Greencastle, PA). The album is available everywhere music streams.
Devin's songs sometimes draw from his work as a poet. His collection of poetry 'Pennsyltucky Soil' is the culmination of a project he began as a participant in the 2018 Soaring Gardens Residency in northeastern Pennsylvania. This collection filters the author's childhood memories through the darkened lens of adulthood upon his re-settlement in his rural hometown. Get "Pennsyltucky Soil" from Off Latch Press
He studied classical guitar with Matthew Slotkin (Mansfield University, Bachelor of Music), and Christopher Berg (University of South Carolina, Master of Music). While at the University of South Carolina, he performed for numerous University events including the award-winning Southern Exposure new music series, USC Wind Ensemble, Collaborations in Contemporary Art (Cica), and the New Voices series featuring works by USC's composition students. Devin was a participant in the new music festival New Music on the Point in 2017. At NMOP, he had the honor of performing new music by emerging composers with an incredible group of musicians from around the world including Tony Arnold, Stuart Gerber, and members of the JACK Quartet.
Beyond the realm of classical music, Devin has a deep love for bluegrass, early blues, and American folk music. He can be found picking and jamming around Central Pennsylvania.
